“Dabungung” is my tribute to the role of fathers in my culture. The leaders, the protectors and the ones who carry strength for the family.

The kangaroo stands firm and grounded, representing resilience, responsibility and the ability to move forward even through hardship. Its body carries patterns of Country, lineage and the stories passed down from generation to generation.

The vibrant colours surrounding him show the energy, spirit and life that fathers help create and protect. The central meeting circle represents family, a reminder that everything we do as fathers is for the ones we guide.

This piece reflects my own father, the old ways of our people and the father I am. “Dabungung” is about pride, responsibility and the deep cultural meaning of being a man who stands for his family.
